How To Measure 24 Inch Kid’s Bike? Simple 6 Tricks

If you don’t know how to measure a 24 inch bike or any other bike then this article will be handy for you. Correct measurement is very important in finding the right size bike that results in a comfortable and faster ride.

One point you should keep in mind that a kid’s bike is sized according to the diameter of the wheel. So, here the standover height and seat post height can differ highly among different cycle brands.

Now, why am I saying this? No two-person of the same age can be completely similar in the body’s structure. That’s why you will have to measure your kid’s height and inseam height to get a proper size bike. The latter one is more accurate.

Simple Tricks to Measure 24 Inch Bike:

So, let’s see how will you measure the inseam height:

• Ask your kid to stand upright barefoot on the ground with leg spread approximately to shoulder-width apart. They can also stand near a wall for height marking.

• Take a measuring tape and measure from the ground to their crotch.

• This is their inseam height and note it down. You can also mark it up on the wall and later use it when purchasing the bike.

Now that you have the inseam height measure it with the standard size chart of the bike. The size that matches your kid’s inseam is the ideal one for them.

If you want to know how to measure a person’s height then have a look below:

• Remove the shoe and stand against a wall.

• Take a pencil and a measuring tape. Now make a pencil mark at the top of the person’s head.

• Measure from the mark to the ground and you will get their height.

This process is also helpful in finding the right bike size. In general, 4’5″–4’9″ or 135-145 cm is considered the perfect height or tall for the 24-inch bike.

Now some experts may say you can match the kid’s age for a bike with the size chart to get the right size bike. You can follow it too.

It is always better if your kids can try out the bike in person. That way they can sit on the seat and keep their feet on the ground to check if it’s perfect for them.

However, if you can’t make it to the shop due to the Covid-19, then you can do online shopping. In this case, your measurement will be very handy.

Keep in Mind

There should be at least a decent gap of 1-2 inches between the crotch and the top tube. As a result, your kids can stand comfortably and the bike will be easily maneuverable.

However, make sure the bike is not too big for the rider’s inseam. Otherwise, it will be tough for them to get their feet on the ground. Again, if the bike is too small, then the rider will feel packed, uneasy, and inefficient.

Now, some adults can also fit into a 24-inch bike, especially female riders. For them height is not a barrier if it fits them well, they should have it. Otherwise, they can go for a 26-inch bike while there are some important differences between 24 inch vs 26 inch bike.

Lastly, if you want to purchase the perfect 24-inch kid’s bike then there is no alternative for the accurate measurement of your kid’s body- and inseam- height. Make sure you figure out it properly.
